USE, PURPOSE

TABLE, Anodized Aluminum & Maple; SCULPTURE, Anodized Aluminum; DIVIDER, Anodized Aluminum & Maple

USE, PURPOSE  consists of a table, a small floor sculpture, and two room dividers. The table and sculpture are counterparts to one another; while the table is a functional object, the sculpture is a representational one, similar to a religious artifact or sporting trophy. Enclosing them are two identical dividers which ‘suggest’ a spatial divide rather than creating a visual screen. The arrangement reminds us that our daily life contains objects both useful and useless. These notions show a complexity not just in the collection itself but also domestic interiors in general. Use and purpose are unusual things.
