Obelisk attempts to bring the grandiose nature of the many Egyptian obelisks in Rome down to a scale more proportional to the human body. Further connection to the body is implied by the addition of four legs to the form, making it feel like a piece of furniture. However, the object doesn’t do much besides exist, therefore falling under the category of decoration. Much like how the stolen obelisks are displayed as booty from Ancient Rome’s conquest of Egypt.
